As cost of living rises, the government has been actively finding ways to help the less fortunate cope. One of the strategies that the government has introduced to the public is the Menu Rahmah initiative.
The campaign aims to provide full meals priced no more than RM5, which has since been adopted by a host of other local F&B businesses that include Mydin and Burger King.
Old Town White Coffee introduces Menu Rahmah meals
Following that, BERNAMA has reported that popular coffee chain Old Town White Coffee will be introducing their own Menu Rahmah selections, with meals priced between RM4.50 to RM5.00.
According to Deric Yeo, Chief Development Officer of Kopitiam Asia Pacific, the menu would include different options such as Nasi Lemak Rahmah, Nasi Lemak Rahmah with Sausage and Nasi Lemak Rahamah with Minced Chicken.
The food will also be served with a glass of classic limau ice, with the menu set to be introduced nationwide. Yeo points out that the menu will be offered to all their customers, as there is no real way of identifying who among them are from the B40 community.
“We’ve spent some time analysing the menu and we wanted to make sure that the food in the Menu Rahmah concept would still be halal and contains nutrients we need so that it’s suitable for all walks of life”, he added.
Adding to this, he explains that Old Town White Coffee will also be taking a more health-conscious path by introducing some plant-based dishes that contains more protein and fibre. However, these options are separate from the Menu Rahmah selections.
“We’re not switching the entire menu, but we just want to add in some plant-based options for those who prefer to be meat-free”, he said.
Old Town’s new menu additions will be available from February 23rd onwards across all outlets in Malaysia. It’s definitely great to see more eateries take part in the Menu Rahmah concept to help out the community.
