“No shortcuts”, M’sian shares how she was able to increase her salary from RM3k per month to RM100k per annum

As the cost-of -living rises, plenty of people are struggling to get jobs that offer a decent payout. However, it’s important to note that while there is a pending need to earn more, one should still stay grounded and work their way up. Just recently, a Malaysian has shared her career journey working as a HR and she was able to get a significant salary increase.

M’sian shares how she was able to increase her salary from RM3k per month to RM100k per annum

According to a video on TikTok posted by Joy, she graciously shared her career journey and how her life has changed since she started working. In her video, she mentioned that she was able to land her first job with a RM3,000 salary. While RM3,000 is considered as a good steppingstone for many, there’s no denying that it may not be enough.

Speaking to Wau Post, Joy shared that she had to live frugally during her first job. She said that it was tough managing her finances but despite it, she was able to save up. After 2 years of working in the same company, she decided to pen in her resignation and apply elsewhere, where she was offered a RM4,300 salary.

“I felt like I was rich (though I’m not), and I could finally save more for bigger purchases”, she said.

However, things didn’t work out well for her in the company, leading her to look for another job elsewhere. Thankfully, she was able to secure another job that pays her Rm5,000. After 2 years of working in that company where she made plenty of lifelong friends, she was offered a HR position in an MNC company.

Nothing in life comes easy

Knowing that she would be able to hit RM100k per annum, Joy was determined to take on the role, but always kept in mind of the challenges she would have to face.

“I know I’d have to make plenty of sacrifices, but it’ll be worth it”, she mentioned.
