M’sian woman gets kicked out of her house, threatened with divorce for refusing to wash her mother-in-law’s innerwear

A successful and long-lasting marriage requires equal effort from both parties, as well as the willingness to make compromises and concessions, especially when it comes to interacting with in-laws. But of course, this is easier said than done given the fact that all families lead different lifestyles that may not necessarily be agreeable with others.

M’sian woman complains that her daughter-in-law refuses to wash her innerwear

Over the weekend, a local family’s quarrel was made public over social media. According to local newspaper China Press, it was said that the alleged feud happened after a relatively popular local livestreamer complained that her daughter-in-law refused to help wash her innerwear, even though she was incredibly busy with her work.

Her daughter-in-law proceeded defend herself by pointing out that she had conveyed her mother-in-law’s request to her sister-in-law, and asked if she could do it instead. She proceeded to follow up by saying that they can get their maid to do the laundry once she has been hired.

Given the circumstances, the woman’s daughter-in-law felt wronged as she didn’t understand why she had to be the one to wash her mother-in-law’s undergarments, when her sister-in-law could have done it.

She then tried seeking comfort and support from her husband but to her dismay, her husband sided with his own mother and sister, insisting that it wasn’t wrong of his mother to ask her to do the washing. Consequently, this led to a row to break out between husband and wife, as she remained adamant that she didn’t want to wash the undergarments.

“My husband then called upon his older sister to come and ‘talk sense’ into me”, she said.

Drove her daughter-in-law out of their home, husband threatens divorce

Following that, her husband’s whole family was said to have ganged up on her over the matter, before forcing her to move out of the family home. They even threatened to sue her, and said that her husband will be divorcing her. To make things worse, her mother-in-law then decided to complain about the incident during one of her Live sessions, and many people began messaging her asking about what happened.

When the matter was escalated online, the woman decided to start a Live session herself to explain her side of the story and claimed that it was unfair that she had to endure so much humiliation online for refusing her mother-in-law’s request to wash her undergarments. After that, many people began flooding her mother-in-law’s comments and private messages saying that she was selfish for asking her daughter-in-law to do so.

Her mother-in-law then started another Live session saying that she feels heartbroken and have always treated her daughter-in-law like her own daughter. At one point, she claims the reason she asked her daughter-in-law to wash her innerwear is because she sees her as her own daughter. The middle-aged woman proceeded to then knee to the ground to kowtow and ask for her daughter-in-law to forgive her, while her son kept repeating saying that he isn’t a filial son.

Following the entire saga, many netizens have expressed their incredulity over the incident that stemmed from a few pieces of undergarments.

“Can’t believe that they might get a divorce just for a pair of innerwear.”

“To be honest, inner wears are quite delicate and nobody should be washing them other than yourself. I don’t wash my 10-year-old daughter’s underwear. It’s something she should wash herself, this is something personal and private. I think that women shouldn’t rely on marriage to attain happiness, you can give happiness to yourself.

If you continue to stay in a marriage where your husband wouldn’t protect you, then you won’t be happy. If you’re incapable of respecting someone then you shouldn’t say much. Don’t try to get netizens to support you, you’re at fault for asking someone else to wash your inner wears.”

“Why do you have time to shower but have got no time to wash your own underwear? Can’t you just wash it when you’re showering? Please don’t use being busy as an excuse.”

“If there’s only 2-3 pairs of inner wear and is already soaked in the bucket, why can’t she help her own mother wash it? You gave birth to her and not your daughter-in-law, wouldn’t it be better if your own daughter washes it for you?”

“I emphatize with the woman, she just wanted to share her feelings with her husband but instead she got attacked by the whole family.”
