When it comes to condiments, most eateries would offer it on the side so that customers can grab however much they need. However, this was not the case for this Malaysian vendor as he was cleaning up the dishes.
M’sian vendor feels heartbroken when he sees customers wasting his pickled chilli padi
According to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, a vendor hailing from Kota Kinabalu shared his feelings in a post. As a little treat for his customers who dines in at his eatery, he has prepared pickled chilli padi for them. Upon cleaning up the table, he realised that a customer has ordered a bowl of noodles but took 3 sauce plates full of his pickled chilli padi.
What upset him wasn’t the fact that his customer took extra, but the fact that they didn’t finish any of it. Expressing his feelings, mentioning that making the pickled chilli padi takes time and effort, he felt discouraged after seeing customers waste his efforts.
“I don’t ask for much, I only want them to take what they can eat”, he said.
Emphasizing that he just didn’t want to see his efforts being wasted, he then urged the public to only take the amount they can finish to avoid any wastage.
As his post goes viral, many netizens have commented on it and here’s what some of them said:
“That is such a waste! You should only take however much you can eat. Stop wasting the vendor’s effort, time and money. We must always learn how to be grateful, then we will receive good karma.”
“There’s no harm in refilling after you’ve finished it. Please don’t waste food.”
“Is it that hard to only take however much you can eat?”
“This is actually a mentality problem. As humans we should always learn how to live with gratitude and be grateful.”
