M’sian shares experience opening up a gerai at the morning market in Liverpool UK

Living in a foreign country is definitely a great experience, especially when you can enjoy different cultures. Just last week, a Malaysian named Marhaidi has shared a story about a doctor who opened her own stall selling authentic kuih-muih at the morning market in Liverpool UK!

According to Marhaidi’s TikTok video, a Malaysian PhD holder Dr. Shikin, has set up her little stall at Liverpool, selling authentic Malaysian snacks. Speaking to Wau Post, Marhaidi shared that he is actually the president for the Malaysian Community Liverpool. That being said, he would often share the life of Malaysians in Liverpool.

When asked about Dr. Shikin, he mentioned that she currently holds a permanent resident visa in Liverpool and would sell kuih-muih on the first Saturday of every month.

In the video, Dr. Shikin was seen talking to one of the locals, explaining that seri muka, is actually a pandan pudding. Other than that, she was also seen selling other local delights like, lemon cake, rainbow cake, as well as banana fritters, caramel cake and curry puffs!

“Granby Street Market is a local market that is organised on the first Saturday of every month for those who are living at Liverpool”, he said.

In the market, those who visit can expect to find vintage items, as well as handcrafted goods and other snacks and delights from locals, and other international communities.

With her delicious delicacies, Dr. Shikin has managed to garner her own customers that would always patronise her stall, whenever she was open. Ending the short interview, Marhaidi then urged for Malaysians who live in Liverpool to come and visit the market.
