At the age of 15, most of us may remember sitting for our PMR or PT3 examinations back in the day. But one gifted student has risen above the rest in stellar show of achievement.

Rayyann Haron Alqadry, a 15-year-old student, has achieved remarkable success in his academic pursuits. He recently garnered global recognition by scoring in the top 1% of the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) with an impressive score of 1,530 out of 1,600.

Notably, he achieved a perfect score of 800 in the Mathematics section. On top of his remarkable SAT performance, Rayyann has been selected to join the prestigious Dalyell Scholars program at the University of Sydney.

At only 15, he is the youngest person ever to be invited to participate. This program will provide him with an opportunity to pursue a double degree in physics and computer science starting in February.

Early signs of mathematical genius

In an interview with the New Straits Times, his parents shared how Rayyann’s journey first began. They initially noticed his extraordinary talents when he displayed an exceptional aptitude for puzzles at a very young age. By the time he was 2, he was already solving puzzles designed for 6-year-olds.

As he grew older, his mathematical abilities continued to impress. At the age of 6, he started working on sixth-grade mathematics, and to his parents’ surprise, he displayed a deep understanding of pre-algebra.

Similarly, his passion for sciences such as astronomy and physics, stemmed from a young age. What started as a childhood dream of becoming an astronaut evolved into a fascination with astronomy, astrophysics, and ultimately, theoretical physics.

Overcoming roadblocks and inspiring others

Despite his remarkable achievements, Rayyann has faced some challenges due to his age. At the age of 13, he was offered a place at the University of California in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, this opportunity was put on hold due to his age and the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, these roadblocks have not deterred Rayyann from continuing to excel in his academic pursuits. In fact, he has taken on the role of teaching other SAT candidates while eagerly awaiting the day he can begin his double degree program.

“It’s in those times that I have to remind myself that it’s okay, I am 15. I have to work even harder to make sure that people understand what I am trying to say.” Rayyann remains optimistic towards his future, while his parents are fully supportive of his academic journey.

Congratulations and we’re incredibly proud of you too Rayyann. We can’t wait to see you do great things ahead!
