The journey to become an entrepreneur is never easy as it requires a lot of effort, time and energy. That being said, nothing quite compares to the feeling of accomplishment one feels when seeing their business succeed.
Khairul Aming is an entrepreneur that started his sambal business from scratch 2 years ago. In a recent video, Khairul has shared his journey, including the operations in his current factory, and it’s safe to say that we are in awe of his dedication and hard work!
In his 3-minute-long video, he shared that from 2021 to 2023, he has managed to earn a total RM21.5 million in profit, which equates to over 1.5 million jars of sambal. He broke down the profit calculations, showing how his company’s growth went from RM7.5 million in 2021 to RM14 million in 2022.
Following that, he also shared that him and his team has managed to win the best customer service and best new seller award from Shopee and with much enthusiasm to share, here’s a glimpse of how his factory works. He revealed that every morning, he would receive about 1,000kg worth of fresh chillis and onions from his supplier.
After receiving the fresh produces, they would then proceed with quality checks to ensure that each ingredient is in good form before keeping the ingredients in their cold storage. This is followed by the kitchen team collecting the raw ingredients to weigh and sort out for cooking.
“This step is important because if we don’t weigh the fresh produces, the taste of the sambal would be different and the quantity of sambal that we can produce may also differ.” He explains.
After weighing out the ingredients, they would start washing the produces and this step would be repeated a few times until the ingredients are free from any dirt and is safe to consume.
The cooking process would then commence, with Khairul mentioning that it would take a few hours to ensure that the sambal is properly cooked. Once done, they would be packaging the sambal into glass bottles before sealing them for freshness.
“Once it’s sealed, we will start with wrapping the sambal in bubble wrap and it would take approximately 1 minute and 5 seconds for them to complete the bubble wrapping for each parcel and we sell about 5,000 bottles of sambal a day”,
When the parcel is ready, courier services would be on standby to scan the items into the system before loading them into the lorries and delivering them on the same day, all to ensure that his customers receive his sambal with no compromises in quality.
Explaining further about his plans for the coming year, Khairul has shared that his second factory located in Kota Bahru, Kelantan is fully operational and that he hopes to show his appreciation to his staff for their contribution to his company’s growth.
“In 2023, I hope that we’ll be able to achieve greater heights and I can’t wait to reward my staff from all the hard work they’ve done. I’m grateful and happy to have a team that is supportive and hardworking”, he added.
Fans of the entrepreneur have taken to congratulating him on his milestone and wish him well for the road ahead.
“True inspiration!”
“Congratulations, may you continue to excel and succeed in your business.”
“I’m impressed! Keep up the good work!”
It’s truly inspiring to see someone who has achieved so much success to be this humble and we can’t see what’s in store for them in 2023!
