When using any public restroom, most of us expect to be afforded some measure of privacy when doing our business. After all, that’s what toilet cubicles are for. Despite that fact, one Malaysian netizen recently made a rather peculiar discovery at a public restroom operated by a local petrol station here recently.

Netizen stumbles upon toilet without any cubicles

As shared by local TikTok user ainishangloo, she recounted how she had stopped her car at a petrol station to make use of the restrooms there. Claiming that she was having an ’emergency’, she wasted no time at all to head towards the ladies’ toilet.

However upon opening the door, her urge to use the restroom vanished in an instant when she stumbled upon a most peculiar scene: the toilet in question had no partitions to provide users with privacy in individual stalls! And this is in spite of the fact that the restroom had enough facilities to allow three individuals to make use of it at any given time, given the fact that there were two sit-down toilet bowls, and a raised squat toilet to a corner.

“My urge to use it vanished!” she exclaimed.

Why no partitions? Netizens posit hilarious possibilities

The short 12-second clip has since been viewed over 593,000 times over the video sharing platform, with many users leaving hilarious reactions to the ordeal, as well as sharing potential theories as to why exactly the toilet did not have any cubicles.

“I guess in this way, you won’t have to worry about people spying on you from the top. And you can also chat with other people next to you while relieving yourself, and you won’t feel scared.”

“They’re ordering their partition from Shopee and it hasn’t arrived yet! While waiting, just chat with the people next to you, ask them about where they’re headed back.”

“Maybe the point was to let one person use the entire toilet! How nice, they’re gonna give you a choice to relieve yourself wherever you choose.”

“Hahaha, isn’t that great? Please choose!”

One jokingly suggested that they wanted to give users the freedom of choice. Image credit: TikTok
