M’sian dad buys a pair of secondhand shoes to attend son’s graduation ceremony
According to a video posted on TikTok by Ayob Ibrahim, he shared that his father had sent him a picture of a pair of shoes that he bought at a secondhand store for just RM8. He shared that the reason why his dad had bought the pair of shoes was because there was a dress code to adhere to for his graduation ceremony.
Speaking to Wau Post, Ayob shared that he is a student from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) set to graduate on November 30 with a Bachelor of Human Science Development. As he learnt that his dad had bought a pair of shoes for the sake of his graduation, he couldn’t help but feel emotional.
“My dad was a construction site worker previously and ran a small business on the side, but has retired since”, he said.

Seeing that the pair of shoes his father bought was quite worn off, Ayob decided to take matters into his own hands by purchasing a pair of new black shoes for his father.
“His birthday is also coming up soon, so I decided to buy him a new pair of shoes”, he mentioned.
Following his story, plenty of netizens have left their comments and here’s what some of them said:
“Take good care of your father, there are many who want to take care of their father but didn’t get a chance to.”
“I hope you can continue to be filial towards your father for as long as he is here. I pray that you’ll be filled with blessings and possess good health.”
What a touching moment and congratulations for graduating Ayob!
