Running a marathon is never easy and requires plenty of training to ensure that your body is able to endure the long run. And while it is already difficult to finish a marathon, this Malaysian father has decided to think out of the box and bring his differently abled daughter to experience what it’s like to participate in a running event.
M’sian father decides to participate in a marathon with his differently abled daughter for her birthday
Just recently, Standard Chartered Bank hosted their marathon run and a Malaysian father has made his wave on social media for his dedication and passion in ensuring that his daughter experiences different things, despite being differently abled.

Speaking to Wau Post, Mr. Wira shared that his daughter Nur Wadihan suffers from cerebral palsy and is unable to care for herself. He revealed then when she was young, she would be in and out of the hospital as she gets sick easily. However, as she grew up, her condition became stable, and they were able to bring her out for outdoor activities.
“We realised that she would smile and laugh whenever we brought her out for outdoor activities like running or cycling”, he said.

Every moment is precious
Following that, Mr. Wira decided that every year as they celebrate her birthday, they would do something meaningful together. He shared that prior to this, he has brought her for different hiking trips like Fraser’s Hills, Gunung Jerai and Wang Kelian. This year round, they’ve decided to have two different celebrations for her, one being a hiking trip at Sumpitan, Perak.

Unfortunately, this celebration was forced to be put on hold as she was admitted into the hospital. But, as she recovered and was discharged, they decided to go on with their second celebration, which is the Standard Chartered half marathon.
“Ever since we started this routine back in 2018, our family members have also decided to join in and it’s a great way for us to bond”, he said.
He added that these activities allow them to create plenty of memories together, making it very memorable.
