Domestic worker chained up in bathroom after M’sian couple accused her of stealing jewellery

According to local newspaper Harian Metro, a resident who wanted to remain anonymous has mentioned that he headed over to a grocery store at 9pm. When he was at the store, a worker has told him that they were disturbed by screams coming from the flats surrounding the shop.

Hearing the screams for himself, he then decided to follow the screams and found out that it was coming from a unit on the second floor. The man then quickly contacted the authorities and when they arrived, the unit door was locked. Left with little to no options, the police then broke down the door and when they entered the unit bathroom, they discovered a woman was chained up and locked in the bathroom, losing her consciousness.

Probing further, it was said that the woman is a domestic worker from Indonesia and was hired by the Malaysian couple. When the couple found out that their jewellery went missing, they were quick to point fingers and accused the domestic helper of stealing it. Instead of contacting the local authorities, the couple decided to take matters into their own hands by chaining her up in the bathroom.
