We can take great pride in knowing that our fellow Malaysians can stand shoulder-to-shoulder where success is concerned, whether it be in the world of business, the sporting arena, or the entertainment world. And where the latter is concerned, the local social media scene has been set abuzz after many came to learn of how one local name was featured in a tummy-tickling scene from a South Korean blockbuster film.

M’sian artist DJ SP3CK leaves netizens in stitches from his cameo in 2019 Korean film

As shared recently by local netizen @locacolala to the popular video platform TikTok, many Malaysians were left in hysterics after Malaysian-born artist and K-Pop producer, DJ SP3CK, made a minor appearance in the 2019 flick Jazzy Misfits.

Starring South Korean rapper Cheetah as Sun-Deok and actress Jo Min Soo as her estranged mother, the movie revolves around their search for Sun-Deok’s younger sister, Yuri, who had ran off after stealing money from their family. Along the way, they wind up uncovering secrets to Yuri’s past.

And in the course of their search, Jo Min Soo’s matronly character winds up stumbling upon the wrong apartment while trying to locate her older daughter. Knocking on the door repeatedly, she was promptly shocked to find herself coming face-to-face with a man, played by none other than DJ SP3CK.

Mistakenly assuming that he was harbouring her daughter in his home, she proceeds to rile up an argument with him and tries to gain entry into his home. However, SP3CK refuses and proceeds to tell her off in Bahasa Melayu, much to the amusement of Malaysian audiences.

“Mak cik, mak cik, why are you making such noise this early in the morning? Ahh ba*i betul lah!” he could be heard saying.

The commotion eventually catches the attention of her daughter, who actually lived in the apartment unit above SP3CK’s, leading to an embarrassed Min Soo sheepishly apologising before scurrying off.

A very Malaysian reaction

Many amused netizens commended SP3CK’s accurate portrayal of Malaysian colloquialisms.

In fact, one even came up with a hilarious backstory for SP3CK’s character.

“Maybe he works the night shift and just got home, took his clothes off and was about to sleep when he heard someone knock on the door. Even his eyes look tired, of course she’s going to get it from him.”
