Diners at a local coffee shop were in for a shock when they became witnesses to a violent altercation when two men wielding parangs abruptly stormed in without any warning. In a clip that has since been widely shared across social media, the duo could be seen making an immediate beeline for the cashier’s counter, each with a weapon in hand.

They proceeded to confront a woman wearing a black t-shirt, with one of the men pointing the tip of his machete in her direction. But in quick succession, their attention was promptly diverted by a hawker wearing blue who was manning a nearby stall.
Violence ensued as both men set off in pursuit of the hawker, causing havoc to break loose in the coffee shop. Other patrons seated at adjacent tables were caught in a state of panic as the two men chased after the male hawker around the stall, before slashing at him at they entered through the front again.
Stumbling over as he was backed into some tables, the hawker in blue attempted to shield himself from the machete blows by pulling some plastic chairs over himself. In spite of obvious danger, the woman in black put her life on the line and confronted the machete-wielding men by brandishing one of the chairs against them while others simply cowered from one side.
She later attempted to reason with the men and pleaded for them to leave the hawker alone, but found herself being grabbed by the arm as one of the men appeared to threaten to slash her with the machete. Both assailants eventually relented before leaving the premises.
Fight was allegedly an act of vengeance
Quoting Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan, local newspapers China Press and Harian Metro reports that the incident was allegedly sparked after one of the men had dined at the coffee shop earlier and had caused a scene over the late arrival of his drink.
One of the employees was said to have chased the man away from the premises, only for the man to then return with a vengeance while bringing a friend. The incident occurred on Tuesday (January 17th, 2023)
Adding to this, it was also revealed to China Press that the woman in black was the proprietress of the coffee shop, and that the hawker in blue was her boyfriend. While she had acted out of the intention to protect him, she told the newspaper that she would have done the same for any of her employees in the exact same situation.
Free Malaysia Today has confirmed that both suspects, aged 44 and 47, have been arrested at Taman Cheras Permata in Kajang at 3.00am yesterday (January 18th, 2023). They are currently being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons.
