Getting a ride anywhere these days is convenient with the availability of e-hailing and public transport services. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to enjoy these luxuries constantly.
“Let me give you a ride” Kind M’sian man offers elderly man a lift
Morning rush hours are the worst, especially when you’re in a hurry to clock in to work. But that didn’t stop this man from starting off his day with an act of kindness.
In a dashcam video that was uploaded to his TikTok, Syed Samad related his earlier encounter on the road. Speaking to Wau Post, he explained that he was driving to his office when he came across an unexpected obstacle.
“I was a bit stressed to get to work as I received last minute instructions, and it was a heavy workload,” he said. At the time, he was video chatting with his fiancé with his phone on the holder, when his car came to a slow halt.
His fiancé suggested for him to give the man a ride
There was a man in front of him limping on the road, causing the delay. As he told his fiance what was happening, she urged him to help out the man by offering a lift.
Without hesitance, Syed immediately brought his car near the man and asked him where he was going. “Come let me give you a ride,” Syed says, to which the man gratefully agreed.
As they rode together, Syed discovered more things about his newfound companion. “At first, I thought he only had problems walking. It turns out his vocabulary was limited as well.” In the recording, the man is heard mostly expressing praises to God.
Thankful he got to help out another human being
He shared that he felt grateful to be able to carry out his responsibility as a human being. Initially, Syed had no intention to upload the video, but watching the man’s determination and faith in God truly impressed him.
His video has since received an overwhelming reaction, with many users thanking Syed and his fiancé for their kindness. Despite that, he reiterates that he was just doing his part. “As a community, I believe it is our responsibility to look out for one another,” he says.
Truly, it’s these kinds of acts that showcase the true spirit of Malaysians.
