One of the best things about Malaysians would definitely be the kindness and compassion we have not just towards humans, but to animals as well. Over the years, plenty of non-profit animal shelters have been set up, in hopes of helping the stray animals live a better life.

Just recently, an Instagram user named Harley has taken his excitement onto Instagram, sharing about a burger stall located in Rock Cafe at Sunway. In his post he mentioned that aunty Ong runs a stall in Rock Cafe that sells burger. However, while this tiny burger joint may seem like a normal stall, the meaning behind the business is absolutely heartwarming.

He revealed that the main reason why aunty Ong is running this burger stall is because she uses the profit she gets from this business to fund her own animal shelter! Harley described that the burgers made by aunty Ong is absolutely delicious with a mouthful of tantalizing flavours.

Speaking to Wau Post, aunty Ong shared that she has been running her burger stall for over 6 years but has been in the food and beverage industry all her life. Recalling the days when she first started out as a feeder in Sunway, she said that she would often feed the strays around the area, and she would occasionally rescue the animals that are being abused.

When she had a Thai restaurant back then, aunty Ong mentioned that her first ever rescue stray was a 4- to 5-month-old dog that had a broken limb named Pingu (transliterated).

“I found the dog right in front of my shop, and I decided to take it in and nurse it back to health”, she said.

Since then, aunty Ong has decided to run her own shelter and support it with the income she would earn from her burger selling business. She revealed that her dog shelter that’s located in Semenyih has over 47 strays and on average, she would need roughly RM6,000- to RM7,000 to operate the shelter, including employing a helper to look after the dogs.

Aunty Ong then revealed that over the past year or so, she has been receiving some help from My Animal Care as they help her spay the dogs in the shelter and provide some medical care to the strays who are in need. Other than that, they would also help out by donating 14 packets of kibbles every month.

It’s definitely heartwarming to see so many kindhearted Malaysians come together and help our furry friends. For those who’d like to support aunty Ong and her kind gesture in providing a better life for the strays, you can do so by supporting her burger stall at Rock Cafe, Sunway!
