For many Muslims, heading over to Mecca for a pilgrimage trip could be a lifelong goal. However, it’s worth noting that a trip to the Holy Land may be rather expensive. With that said, a Penang based politician has decided to perform an act of gratitude by sending his primary 1 schoolteacher and her husband on a pilgrimage trip.

According to a post by Steven Sim, he shared that he has decided to perform a kind deed to express his gratitude towards his primary 1 schoolteacher. In his post he said,

“Back in February, I came in contact with my teacher Cikgu Zaniyah. and I promised her that I would send her on a trip to Mecca.”

He explained in his post that the reason it took him a long time to send his teacher over was because they struggled to find a schedule that fits their time. After 8 months of planning and waiting, the day has finally come for him to send his teacher to the Holy Land. Early in the morning, Steven then set foot to the airport and sent his teacher off to Mecca.

“I want to emphasise that I’m doing this for her out of gratitude as she was my first teacher in my life”, adding that he is bearing the cost of her trip out of his own pockets and not from any government fundings.

As he sent his teacher off, he hoped that his teacher could spare some time to pray for him and give him the strength to continue being a good representative to the nation.

“Have a safe trip and may this trip to the Holy Land grant you enlightenment and fulfillment”, he said.
