Be the change you want to see in the world, as many people will no doubt have said. By embodying virtues of compassion, kindness and empathy, we can all collectively come to make the world a slightly better place to live in for each other. And in the case of two TNB technicians, they certainly did manage to bring a lot of joy to an elderly aunty’s day by merit of one simple gesture.
TNB technicians stop to offer elderly aunty standing by roadside a ride home
In a now viral video that was recently shared by netizen Mohd Haziq, otherwise known as @dak_puteh on TikTok, he recounts how he and a colleague of his had encountered an old Indian aunty standing by a road shoulder, seemingly waiting for a bus or taxi to pass by chance to pick her up. Laden with a recycling bag filled with goods, she stood under the shade of a few trees as cars whizzed by.
And while they did initially drive pass her, both men then made the abrupt decision to offer the elderly aunty a ride in their pickup truck. Making a detour, they drove back to the very spot where she stood and asked her to come on-board. The old woman, visibly elated by the offer and seemingly glad that she will no longer have to wait by the roadside.
Said she waited over an hour for any passing vehicles to stop
With a bright smile, the elderly woman chatted with both men throughout the ride and reveals that she had been at Taman Lesung Batu, and had been trying to head home to Pengkalan. Haziq told Wau Post that he didn’t to ask what she had been doing, as he wanted to avoid from prying into the woman’s personal affairs. But regardless of which, she explains to the men that she had been waiting for over an hour in hopes that somebody would be kind enough to stop and give her a ride home.
“While she was in the car, she wouldn’t stop praising us. But we told her that we were just doing our part as humanity.” he adds.
Eventually, they brought her to her destination before bidding her farewell. Haziq also advises those to help if they are ever in a position to do so, regardless of whether we encounter another fellow human being or an animal in need, without needing to take into account any differences in race, religion or beliefs.
“Spread kindness because we are all under His (Allah SWT) mercy,” he said.
The video, which has since gone viral across TikTok, has been met with heaping praise from netizens.
“No words… Thanks Brother TNB. May Allah SWT watch over you for the rest of your life. Keep it up, Brother TNB.”
“Is it weird if I started crying while watching this video? That aunty looked so cute when she started smiling. Alahaii, may Allah SWT repay the both of you for your kindness.”
