As the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season fast approaches, Malaysians who will be partaking in the celebrations will understandably be caught amid the excitement of making all the prerequisite preparations. And chief among these will be the purchasing of a brand-new Raya-ready wardrobe for all the house visits and photos one is bound to take with family and friends.
Fortunately enough for staff working under Malaysian entrepreneur and social media chef Khairul Aming, their Raya preparations appear to have started with a bang after they were treated to a shopping spree, a poolside buffet, and even a lucrative bonus for their hard work over the past year!
Khairul Aming brings staff out for Raya shopping
Often remembered for his delicious and highly coveted jars of Sambal Nyet, Khairul has easily established himself as one of the most well-respected names in local business, with his company achieving record sales of RM14 million just last year.
But beyond business success, he has also been known to be an incredibly generous employer who has made no reservations about showing his staff his gratitude to them for their continued support and contributions in their work. This time around, he took to sharing the spoils of their earnings with his employees by taking them on the company’s annual Raya shopping excursion.
Closing down both his factories for a day, Khairul brought all 60 members of his staff out to shop for their Raya outfits, telling them to purchase to their hearts’ content.
“First, we went shopping for Raya clothes. This is a mandatory routine for us every year, so all of our 60 employees are given the opportunity to pick and buy whatever Raya outfits they want.
Whether it be baju Melayu, baju Kurung, tudung, samping, pick anything, no problems. As long as everyone is happy.” he said.

The group then promptly returned to their company headquarters, where Khairul announced that a special Raya bonus will be distributed to members of staff as a token of appreciation for their hard work.
Handing them out in packets containing a thick wad of RM50 notes, many of his staff could be seen visibly overjoyed, with some even moved to tears by the generous gesture. According to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, the bonus was believed to have amounted to RM3,000 per person.
And as is typical for the Ramadan season, his staff were later brought to a local hotel to enjoy a poolside buka puasa buffet, with Khairul remarking that sales for his signature sambal have gone up by three times their usual amount over the festive period.
With that said, he was also careful not to sell beyond his factory’s production capacity to ensure that his staff wouldn’t suffer from burnout.
The clip, which has been viewed 1.7 million times since it was uploaded, has been met with much praise among Malaysians. Many have commended his approach for valuing his employees, and hopes that other employers would come to follow in kind.
“May all employers become inspired to be like Khairul Aming. Small and medium enterprises are some of the main domestic economic contributors in the country. The higher the wages of employees in this sector, the lively the economy will become. And in turn, businesses in the small and medium enterprise sector will boom.”
“Many problems in Malaysia can be settled if bosses took care of their employees like this.”
“I enjoy seeing how happy his staff are. True companies will take care of their staff, as they are the real backbone of the company.”
