One of the most beautiful things about Malaysia is diversity. And this is something that can be observed especially during the pandemic where Malaysians come together to help those who are struggling, regardless of race and religion. Just recently, a cotton candy seller in Malaysia has gone viral on TikTok for his kindness.
M’sian cotton candy seller donates part of his earnings to a Chinese school
In a viral TikTok video by Abang Gula Kapas, he shared that he has decided to join a charity event that’s held at SJK(c) Khoon Aik located in Perlis. He mentioned that the money raised from the event will be used to help improve the facilities of the school, ensuring that equality is given to both the rich and the poor.
“They told me that if I want to sell my cotton candy here, I will have to donate to the school as they do not charge any rental fee for the space”, he said.
Throughout his time selling his cotton candy at the event, he was in awe when witnessing the harmony between races for himself. With the overwhelming support he was receiving from those who attended the event, he was able to donate RM348.90 to the school!
Spreading joy and doing good by selling cotton candy
Speaking to Wau Post, Abang Gula Kapas revealed that he first had the idea of selling cotton candy when the pandemic happened. He mentioned that the pandemic has affected many of us mentally and may have caused us to feel lonely, sad and for some depressed.
“That’s when I had the idea of selling cotton candy, a reminder of happiness”, he said.
When asked why he decided to join the charity event held at the school, he revealed that he only wanted to spread joy and do good. He shared that it’s his honour to be able to help out whoever that’s in need, regardless of race and religion.
“I’m not a politician or someone that comes from a wealthy background. I can’t help everyone that’s struggling, but I’m blessed that I’m able to help those that I’ve crossed paths with”, he added.
Ending the interview, he urged for the public to always do good, be good and spread kindness as the world can definitely use more kindness.
