“I remember eating leftovers”, M’sian man gives out breakfast for free in his cafe so others won’t go hungry

As the cost-of-living increases, many people have been struggling with some having to go hungry as they don’t have enough to buy food. In an attempt to help lighten their burden and ensure that those who are struggling have a bite to eat, a Malaysian man has decided to offer free breakfast!

Drawing from his own experience, Najib Rahimi Abd Rahim, a former tahfiz student now turned entrepreneur has decided to extend his helping hand, by providing free breakfast to those who need it. Located in Jalan Telipot, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Badok Smoke Cafe & Kitchen operated every Monday to Thursday, offering a variety of breakfast dishes.

“We offer different dishes like fried vermicelli, rice, noodles and Nasi Lemak”, he said.

Speaking to local newspaper Sinar Harian, when asked how the idea came about, the kind man shared that he was brainstorming ideas on how to support the community and during Syawal, he had the idea of giving out food for free to those who are in need. Drawing from his own experience, Najib recalled his university days where he didn’t have enough money for food.

“Things were already tough back when I was a student”, he said, adding that he relied on leftovers and plain rice for breakfast before class.

Targeting students as well as the general public living near his cafe who needs support, the 27-year-old entrepreneur offers other dishes like western, Thai and Malay. With his cooking skills he acquired, the man is now able to contribute to the society in a much more meaningful way.

Managed by 2 employees, the cafe is opened from 9am to 11pm and free breakfast would be available from 9am to 12pm every Monday to Thursday.
