Australian content creator puts Petai into her avocado sandwich
According to a video posted by Georgia, she shared that she has first encountered with petai while she was having this dish called sambal petai. For those who are unfamiliar, petai refers to the stinky bean, a popular ingredient in various Southeast Asian cuisines. These beans have a strong aroma and are often used in dishes like sambal petai, stir-fries, and curries.
Speaking to Wau Post, Georgia mentioned that when she was having sambal petai, she instantly knew that she would want to add some into her avocado sandwich.
“I knew that it would taste good if I added it into my avocado sandwich, so I went ahead with it”, she said.
In the video, Georgia was seen prepping the beans, revealing that she had just found out that she’s meant to cut the beans in half to ensure that there are no worms in the beans. After prepping the stinky beans, she then blenched it before adding into her smashed avocados, adding some chili flakes to taste.
“After you’ve done mixing, all you need to do is spread it onto your favourite bread and enjoy!”, she mentioned.
Following her post, many netizens have commented and here’s what some of them said:
“Wow, but I think it wouldn’t taste bad because it’s a savoury sandwich and not the sweet ones. But I don’t eat petai, so it’s fine.”
