A motorcyclist was said to have been killed at the scene of a horrific accident that took place yesterday along Federal Highway. Dash cam footage of the accident had been circulating across local social media since yesterday evening (23rd February 2022), appearing on multiple community Facebook pages.

Six-vehicle accident leaves one motorcyclist dead

In the clip, the owner of the dash-cam had been driving along the fast lane before encountering traffic congestion up along the highway. A motorcycle could then be seen moving into frame from the left, with its hazard blinkers on. However, as the motorcycle was traveling between lanes, what appears to be a grey Proton Iriz then attempted to switch lanes from right to left, without noticing that the motorcycle had been alongside it. The maneuver led to the motorcyclist colliding with the rear of the Proton, before toppling onto the ground.

As that happened, the dash-cam car then collided with the rear of a black Toyota Vios.

According to Harian Metro, the accident had taken place at Kilometer 15.7 along the Federal Highway heading towards Klang at 7.40pm yesterday evening. Six vehicles were involved in the crash, which killed the motorcyclist seen in the dash-cam footage.

Victim had been on his way to work at the time of the accident

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said that the deceased, who had been on his way to work at the time, was not using the dedicated motorcycle lane at the time of the incident before colliding with the rear of the Proton Iriz as the car applied emergency brakes.

“The collision caused the motorcyclist to fall onto the ground before being struck by a Honda City from behind. His motorcycle then skidded on the road and crashed into two other cars, a Mercedes and a Toyota Vios.”

“The Toyota Vioss lurched forwards as a result of the impact and crashed into the back of a Perodua Myvi.” he explains.

None of the drivers sustained any injuries as a result of the accident. However, it was reported that the motorcyclist had succumbed to his wounds while receiving treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang. Eyewitnesses who were present at the time and have any information to share are advised to contact Inspector Mohd Zulkifli Razak at 019-4475767.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transportation Act 1987.
