Over the weekend, a viral video has surfaced online, showcasing a couple riding a motorcycle, while wearing their traditional attire. Following the video, it was believed that the video was taken over the past few days as the Muslim community celebrates Hari Raya.
PDRM to arrest 17-year-old teen who performed ‘wheelie’ on motorcycle
In the 30-second video, it showed a man in traditional blue attire was riding his bike with a female passenger at the back. He then performed a dangerous stunt on the road called wheelie multiple times throughout the video and to make matters worse, both him and his passenger were not wearing a helmet.
Upon initial investigation, local authorities have identified that the incident had occurred at Jalan Pasir Puteh, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. As the video goes viral online, local authorities have been alerted and according to local newspaper, Sin Chew Daily, it appears that PDRM has successfully identify the teen in the video who is aged 17.
As the authorities make their way to the teen’s home, it appears that he was not at home. However, they managed to confiscate what believes to be the motorbike used to perform the dangerous act along with the traditional attire seen in the video. Prior to this, PDRM has released a statement on their socials, urging for the 17-year-old to turn himself in.
“This is an offense under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987”, they said in their statement, elaborating that the teen could face a jail term of not more than 5 years, a fine no less than RM5,00 or both, upon conviction.
Following that, local authorities have also urged the public to contact them at 09-7752200 or head over to their nearest police station to make a report if they come across the 17-year-old.
This is a reminder to always put your safety first and to not engage in any illegal activities that leads to serious consequences.
