In a statement written on their Facebook post, Mr. Avirut Thongnet the Deputy Governor of SRT has attended the 42nd Joint Conference in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. During the conference, both parties have agreed on a trial run for the train service they will provide soon. This is to ensure that the services provided will run seamlessly, providing a top-notch experience to their users.

Prior to this, back in 2016, SRT has terminated daily express train services from Bangkok to Butterworth, after Malaysia extends its service to the Padang Besar station. However, plans to revive the services, taking passengers directly to Bangkok and Butterworth has been in discussion again.

With that said, passengers will soon be able to board the train in Butterworth, which will directly take them to the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and vice versa.
