Amid a period of heavy rainstorms that have left the local skylines clouded in grey, Malaysians who are living across many major metropolitan parts of the Klang Valley are now reporting of major blackout occurrences. According to Malay Mail shopping centres such as Mid Valley Megamall, and KL Gateway Mall, in addition to the Kuala Lumpur Sports Complex and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, have been left without power.

Checks on social media have also indicated that areas in Subang, including Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre, as well as parts of greater Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara, Cheras, Petaling Jaya, Bangsar, and Bukit Jalil have also been plunged into darkness as a consequence.
According to Free Malaysia Today, some neighbouring states have reported similar instances of blackouts in their own vicinities, including in Kuantan, Seremban, Ipoh, Nilai, Manjung, and even as far north as in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
TNB is aware of the issue
An aide to Takiyuddin Hassan, Malaysia’s current energy and natural resources minister, said that they are looking into the issue.
A quick check on national power provider Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s social media channels show that the company is aware of the disruptions currently faced by consumers, and said that they are in the process of identifying the root cause behind the blackouts.
