As the cost-of-living rises, many people are struggling to make ends meet. With that said, heading out for a meal may be seen as a luxury for some. Just recently, a Malaysian has shared her encounter when purchasing a RM1.50 Nasi Lemak from a store by the roadside in Kuala Kedah.
M’sian stunned to find out that her RM1.50 Nasi Lemak had a whole egg
Sharing her story on TikTok, the woman had stopped by a stall by the roadside to buy Nasi lemak. As she opened her packet Nasi lemak, she was surprised to find a whole hard-boiled egg, cut into half in her packet of rice. Expecting the price of the Nasi Lemak to be RM3.50, she then passed a RM5 note towards the lady.
“She then gave me RM3.50 change and I was stunned”, she said.

She quickly clarified with the woman and asked if the Nasi Lemak was priced at RM1.50 and the vendor replied to her saying yes. Upon finding out that the filling packet of rice was only RM1.50, she couldn’t help but describe her experience as a “culture shock”.
Speaking to Wau Post, she mentioned that as she visited the stall next to the Nasi Lemak stall, she was also surprised to find out that her bill came up to less than RM10, for the amount food she ordered.
“We had 4 pieces of roti canai, a cup of hot coffee and tea. It also costed us RM7.90”, she revealed.
