As the cost-of-living rises, the government has come up with various ways to help the nation. With that said, the rahmah initiative was a programme designed to help those who are struggling to afford a meal. As the programme rolls out, various eateries have adopted the initiative, offering meals at RM5 or lesser. Just recently, an eatery in Penang was under the spotlight for selling their Nasi Lemak at only RM0.90!
This cafe in Penang sells their Nasi Lemak at RM0.90 so others can afford
According to local newspaper Utusan, Pak Mat Western Cafe located in Penang has been making waves around town for its affordable and delicious Nasi Lemak. Speaking to the Malay daily, Nurina Izz Zayani, the Chief of Strategy revealed that the main reason they’ve decided to sell it at such a price point is so that many can afford it.
“Other than that, we also want to make it a point to give back to society, and this is the least we can do”, added Nurina.
With just RM0.90, customers can enjoy a warm hearty meal, before continuing about their day. When asked about their sales, Nurina mentioned that they are able to sell about 40 sets of Nasi Lemak per day. She also shared that the sales would double up during the weekends, allowing them to sell up to 100 sets of Nasi Lemak.
Back in early January, Pak Mat Western Cafe has decided to offer a promotion selling their Nasi Lemak at RM0.90. The promotion was initially set to end by February but seeing that the promotion has been running well, they’ve decided to extend it, catering to the needs of some of its customers.
