This is only further compounded in the case of parents to special needs children, who often need extra care and undivided attention to ensure their safety and well-being.
Sabah mum shares how her daughter helps her out around the house despite being blind
And in a show of support to other parents of children with special needs, Sabah mum and social media user gentiruk10 has taken to sharing her journey in bringing up her beloved daughter, who is afflicted with a condition known as Stage 5 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). One of her videos, which has since gone viral, shows how despite being visually impaired, her daughter, Inja, is able to confidently navigate around their home with relative ease.
Telling her to help grab a blanket that she had left in her aunt’s room, she proceeded to then show how by feeling her way against the walls, Inja was able to reach the door leading out into the living room. Heading for her aunt’s bedroom, she fumbled around the doorknob for a moment before letting herself in and grabbed the blanket before handing it to her mother.
For those not in the know, Stage 5 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is an eye-disease which affects infant children during premature birth. According to the American National Eye Institute, it occurs as a result of abnormal blood vessel growth in the retinal layer, which can result in impaired vision or blindness.

The short clip has since gone viral across the local social media space, with over 708,500 views as of writing. Many netizens were impressed by Inja’s independence, while also wishing her well.
