Bowling is a popular indoor sport and recreational activity where players roll a heavy ball down a lane to knock down a set of pins arranged at the other end of the lane. Just recently, Malaysians are thrilled to find out that a national bowler has clinched the world champion title!
27yo M’sian becomes third female bowler to win a gold medal in the bowling world championship since 2011!
According to local newspaper NST, 27-year-old Natasha Roslan successfully claimed her victory, winning her a gold medal at the 2023 International Bowling Federation’s (IBF) World Championships in Kuwait. During the finals, Natasha was able to defeat another fellow Malaysian Sin Li Jane, with the scores of 259-194, 162-238, 185-165.

With that said, team Malaysia was able to bag both a gold and silver medal in the women’s singles event. Subsequently, the news of her win wasn’t taken lightly as it was the first gold medal that a female bowler since 2011. Prior to this, the last gold medal was brought home by Jacqueline Sijore in Hong Kong.
Prior to this, Natasha was set to face Korean opponent, Son Hye Rin and defeated her with the scores of 143-189, 227-173, 214-177. Following her triumphant victory, Natasha’s very first gold medal in the world championship has made her the third Malaysian to win the title, coming after Jacqueline Sijore (2011) and Esther Cheah (2005).
