For those who are unfamiliar, The Voice is a popular singing competition where many countries have adopted. With that said, China has also adopted a similar approach where they named the show Sing! China. The show features 4 celebrity singers where they compete against each other to obtain other contestants. After a series of knockout challenges, the winner will then be crowned in the finale episode.
23yo M’sian, Vanessa Reynauld competes in Sing! China 2023
With that said, Sing! China 2023 has just premiered and Malaysians who tuned in were in a delighted surprise, as they discover that one of the contestants is actually Malaysian! According to Harian Metro, the 23-year-old singer has decided to audition for Sing! China back in January and later on got a call requesting for her to fly over to China for the show.
Being fluent in mandarin, Vanessa then set foot to China where she was able to impress all four mentors, Emil Chau, Joker Xue, Will Pan and Henry Lau. The video of her audition subsequently went viral, with plenty of fans from China and Malaysia expressing their support towards her.
Taken aback by the immense support she’s receiving; Vanessa has vowed to try her best in order to advance into the finals.
“I didn’t expect for so many people to support my journey, and now that I have plenty, I will continue to try my best and not disappoint all my supporters”, she said.
Wanting to venture into China and build a singing career there, Vanessa said that competing in Sing! China is definitely a step forward. However, despite wanting a career overseas, she emphasised that her goals remain the same where she wants to make a name for Malaysia.
“If I’m able to build something for myself in China, I don’t mind travelling back and forth because at the end of the day I want to be in Malaysia”, she mentioned.
As of now, Vanessa’s focus will be on the competition trying her best to advance into the finals! All the best Vanessa, we are all rooting for you!
