The life of a food delivery rider is not an easy one. From having to navigate traffic daily against the clock to make your deliveries on time, to braving dark storm clouds and heavy downpours, this seemingly simple job can in fact be fraught with challenges. Which is why as customers, the least we can do is be courteous when collecting our orders from our fellow abang or akak food riders.
Woman didn’t receive her order at her doorstep
But that common courtesy is seemingly not as common as one would like to think, after a young woman was recently caught on camera berating both a food rider and her apartment’s security guard for not having her way. The clip, which was shared online, showed the customer dressed in house clothes confronting both men outside the foyer of a local apartment building.
According to Mr Michael Cheang, managing director of M-Forces Security Sdn Bhd and employer of the security guard seen in the video, he was made aware that the situation occurred as a result of the woman’s displeasure at having to go all the way down to the lobby to collect her drink. It was claimed that the woman was not in fact local, but from Mainland China.
Telling both the security guard and the food rider off, she asked “Other countries including China would do so [deliver orders to your doorstep], why is Malaysia so awful?”
This is despite the fact that she was told that food riders were not allowed to bring food beyond the lobby, due to the SOP stipulations.

And right after that, she proceeded to peel off the cap of her bubble tea before splashing the contents onto both the security guard and the food rider. Throughout the entire ordeal, both men remained calm and did not react or retaliate to the woman’s aggression, choosing instead to stand silently as she unleased her tirade.
She then hobbles back into the apartment lobby, noticeably trying not to slip on the mess that she had left behind. Mr Cheang praised the professionalism of his employee, who maintained an unflinchingly professional demeanor throughout the situation.
Netizens have similarly expressed their disapproval over the woman’s actions.
“This is absolutely too much, how she treats other people.”
“People like her need to be taught a lesson.”
“She’s lucky she didn’t run into me, otherwise I would have given her a slap.”
