Malaysia, a country known for its plethora of food choices has become one of the first countries that many tourists would visit. Just recently, a woman from Poland has decided to make one of the classic desserts in Malaysia, Cendol.
Woman from Poland recreates Cendol for her parents, safe to say that they love it!
Taking it to her TikTok page, @agaeatskl documented the process of making cendol for her parents who’ve never tried it! And embodying the essence of Malaysia, she shared that as she didn’t manage to get all the ingredients she needed, so she will be improvising. She then briefly shared the ingredients needed to make the dessert, which includes corn, coconut milk, pandan leaf, cendol and gula Melaka.

“I know we should use fresh pandan leaf, but I couldn’t find them, and I didn’t have any gula Melaka with me so I’m going to use palm sugar instead”, she mentioned.
She then began heating up the coconut milk with some pandan leaf, and in a separate pot, melt the palm sugar with some water and pandan leaf. After that, she proceeded to assemble the ingredients together, not forgetting to add ice into the dessert. As she records the reaction of her parents trying the cendol, they were surprised to find that there was corn in the dessert.
“It’s definitely different for them as they only have corn in savory dishes here in Poland”, she said.
Needless to say, her parents thoroughly enjoyed the dessert and said that it’s definitely a taste of Asia!

For the love of Malaysia (and cendol)!
Speaking to Wau Post, she shared that she is currently residing in Malaysia and had just gone back to her kampung to visit her family and friends. When asked about why she would choose to make Cendol instead of other desserts, she revealed that Cendol is actually one of her favourite desserts.

“I love the balance of sweetness and saltiness from the palm sugar and coconut milk, along with the slight crunch of the corn”, she said, adding that it’s the perfect dessert for a hot day.
