Where our local emergency services such as the police, bomba and paramedics are concerned, there are simply no challenges too big or too small to undertake for the sake of keeping lives safe. And this has been proven time and time again, whether it be fording through floodwaters or digging through rubble.
But most recently, a group of firefighters have won the hearts of Malaysians, after they were dispatched to the scene of an apartment in an attempt to persuade one rather dramatic canine victim off the ledge of a high-rise building.
Diligent abang Bomba attempts to persuade ‘sulking’ dog back to safety from ledge
In a brief clip that was shared through the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department’s official Facebook page yesterdy (January 12th, 2023), one diligent and gentle firefighter could be seen perched on the ledge alongside the dour little dog, stroking over it with care in hopes that it could be coaxed into safety.
However despite his best efforts, the dog simply turned its nose away from his proverbial knight in shining armour, most likely out of fear.
“Persuading it wasn’t easy… Even the firefighter had to sweet talk it….” they wrote.
The 37-second video also showed how the fireman patiently tried feeding the dog treats, but to no avail. While the clip eventually cuts short without explicitly showing the dog’s successful rescue, it is assumed that the firefighters managed to reel it back to safety.
Malaysians across the country go ‘awww’
As one can expect, the endearing antics of both the melodramatic canine and the firefighter’s considerable calmness has since captured the attention of social media users across the country, having been shared 8,800 times as of writing, and nabbing 585,000 views in under 24-hours since it was first uploaded.
Many have taken to jokingly suggesting a number of reasons why the dog would be ‘sulking’ on the ledge.
“Bro, he wants a bone. You’re giving him the wrong food.”
“The reason is because it wanted to join the K9 force, but its mother wouldn’t let it.”
“How could he not sulk? You got married in Thailand and didn’t even tell him.”
Others have praised the firemen for their commitment and patience in handling the situation.
“Firemen really are the best. May you keep safe while carrying out your duties.”
“This fireman is great. It might look funny but it requires a lot of patience and compassion to handle the situation. Salute, sir.”
“Alhamdulillah, they really are experts. I initially wondered why didn’t they just catch the dog straight away, then I thought that it could be possible that the dog may attack and fall, etc. Great work!”
