Just today (September 20), local newspaper China Press has reported a freak accident that occurred at Persiaran Utara heading towards Presint 12 in Putrajaya this morning at 10:20am. Upon further investigation, it was said that a convoy that was diverting the traffic has caused the accident.
VIP convoy in Putrajaya causes freak accident with 7 injured and 2 dead
The Chinese Mail revealed that while the convoy was diverting traffic, a lorry that was on the road didn’t manage to hit the brakes on time, causing it to hit the car in front of it, before losing control and landing on the opposite direction of the road. Following the incident, it was reported that the accident has involved a lorry truck, two motorcycles and two cars.
Unfortunately, the freak accident has caused two deaths on scene with seven victims injured. Subsequently, relevant authorities were dispatched to the area to help ease the situation and divert traffic. All victims have been sent over to the hospitals located in Putrajaya and Serdang.
Shortly after, footages of the accident were caught on camera, and it appears that vehicles on the road have come to a complete stop, seemingly letting the convoy pass. However, as the lorry came from the middle lane, it seemed like it didn’t manage to brake on time, swerving from the middle lane to the left lane, before crashing onto a car and a motor, finally stopping after hitting the road shoulder from the opposite direction.
