The Petaling Jaya City Council has left a sour taste in the mouths of many Malaysians as of late, and that’s no thanks to a recent incident which involved members of their vector control team allegedly seen assaulting an elderly man during a dog-catching operation.

As of present, no action has been taken against the implicated officer as it was claimed that he did not intentionally strike the senior citizen with his dog catching pole, but rather did so accidentally. On the other hand, the elderly man himself will be facing a charge of obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties, and is currently in the process of litigation.

MBPJ officers once again seen acting in hostile manner

While the dust has yet to completely settle on that incident, yet another brash run-in with MBPJ officers has been making the rounds over social media. Once again featuring members of what appear to be the council’s vector control unit, they can be seen confronting a man who was filming them on camera.

Audibly taunting the man, one of the officer pointed at him in an accusatory manner.

“Who is this? Who is this? He paid for the dog’s vaccines!”

At this point, it is unknown where the video was recorded, but it was claimed that the incident took place in February. Image credit: Sharan Kaur Gendeh

He then berated the man for getting in the way of their work.

“It is the MBPJ’s job to catch all these dogs. It’s none of your business.

Are those your dogs? If it is yours you tell us so,” he said while raising his voice and leaning up to invade the man’s personal space.

It isn’t immediately clear where the video was taken, but it was claimed that it was recorded on February 10th of this year.

The 55-second video has since gone viral, and has been viewed a total of 81,000 times since it was uploaded on March 24th. Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has since urged the city council to conduct a transparent probe into the verbal exchange, reports NST.
