As we inch closer to the Paris’24 Olympics, many countries have actually revealed sports attire, as well as their opening ceremony outfit for the event. With that said, world renowned fashion label Rizman Ruzaini was invited back in January by the Olympics Council of Malaysia to design the opening ceremony outfit!

Revealing the design, the female athletes will be donning a songket-patterned baju kurung, paired with a kelubung, while the male athletes would wear the classic Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga. On top of that, the attire is also inspired by the recent coronotion of our new king, Sultan Ibrahim as well as our previous ruler, the Sultan of Pahang.
Sharing more about their inspiration behind the stunning designs, the fashion designer said that he wanted to invoke the strength and charisma of our national heroes.

“The qualities and strengths found in our national heroes are now being carried forward by the athletes”, said the talented designer.
After over half a year of fine-tuning and constantly improving their designs to ensure that it’s perfect for the ceremony, it’s most certain that hard work has paid off. Honoring Malaysia’s greatest culture and traditions, Team Malaysia will no doubt look absolutely stunning wearing the garments made by the said fashion label.
The opening ceremony will commence on July 27, at 1:30am Malaysia time. Instead of the traditional opening ceremonies where it’s usually held in a closed stadium, this year’s opening ceremony will be held at the Seine River. Athletes around the globe will be parading the waters via boats.
