If you’re the owner and driver of a Honda City RS Hybrid or a Honda Civic FE model, please do take note! Honda Malaysia has recently announced that they will be recalling some units of both cars amounting to 702 units in total, as a precautionary safety measure.

Honda City RS e:HEV & Honda Civic FE being recalled

Quoting a statement released by the Japanese automobile manufacturer, local paper Malay Mail reports that 630 units of the Honda City RS e:HEV will be recalled, after it was found that the camera module used in its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that was fitted on the front-windshield may not operate as intended and cause the ADAS suite to stop functioning.

The ADAS suite refers to a comprehensive range of driver assisted technologies that are used to help avoid untoward incidents from occurring when behind the wheel. Some of them include lane-departure warning which detects when the vehicle is steering out of its lane, road departure mitigation which helps steer the car back onto the road if it appears to be too close to the road’s edge, forward collision warning which preemptively stops the car in the event of a possible collision, among others.

Inspection, repair & parts replacements are free

As for the Honda Civic FE, 72 units of the C-segment sedan are being recalled to rectify an incomplete welding point located at the slide adjuster of the driver seat.

“This may cause the driver’s seat to not be fixed in position when driving and may compromise the seatbelt protection for the driver,” the company said.

Thankfully however, it has been clarified that no instances of accidents or injuries have thus far been attributed by neither issue involved in the recalls. As for the inspection, repair and replacement of the affected parts themselves, the company says that it will be completed for free, with all costs to be borne by Honda Malaysia.

Customers are encouraged to download and update their details through Honda’s dedicated HondaTouch mobile application for further verification purposes. They will also receive letters mailed directly to their homes, if their vehicles are found to be part of the affected batches. Alternatively, customers may visit their nearest authorised Honda dealer or service centre to learn more.

To check if your vehicle is part of this recall, contact Honda Malaysia via their dedicated toll-free line at 1-800-88-2020, or by logging into their dedicated Product Recall website here.
