In the post, Dr. Asits Sanna, the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS) director revealed that prior to her passing, nurse Sulimah Binti Gilong registered as an organ donor in 2015. Shortly after her passing, Sulimah’s wish to help those who are in need became reality as they received a letter from her next of kin, providing the hospital with a written consent.

In the written consent, it was written that her kidneys, liver and corneas would be donated. With that said, her organs and tissue donation has successfully saved five patients’ lives.

“The organ and tissue donation by the late nurse, Sulimah, has managed to save five patients”, said the statement, highlighting that her organs saved three patients who were experiencing kidney and liver failure, while her corneas gave sight to two patients who were suffering from vision loss.

Ending the post, the state health department then urged for the public to also sign up as organ donors and hopes that this incident could encourage the public to do so.

Our deepest condolences to her family and thank you for saving lives, even after your passing Sulimah.
