Rasa Sayang x Mo Li Hua: M’sian singer Ah Niu sings beautiful mashup of Malay & Chinese folk song in Melaka!

By now, it’s a known fact that Malaysia is not only popular for its variety of food choices but also the diverse culture. Just recently, in an attempt to showcase the cultures in Malaysia, Malaysian singer Ah Niu, has sang a beautiful rendition of the Malay and Chinese folk songs. Rasa Sayang and Mo Li Hua!

Showcasing the beauty of one of Malaysia’s city, Melaka, Ah Niu and Huang Ying (transliterated), has shared the stage singing their beautiful mashup of two famous folk songs! For those who grew up in Malaysia, the song ‘Rasa Sayang’ is no stranger to any of them, as it’s one of the first few songs that they were taught.

Starting the video, dancers of different races were dressed in beautiful Batik, whilst showcasing the beautiful wall art in Melaka. Other than that, another batch of dancers were seen donning a beautiful white cheongsam, signifying the beauty of Malaysia that is filled with diverse culture.

Parading through Jonker Street, the team was seen singing ‘Rasa Sayang’, before the melody smoothly transcends into another famous folk song, Mo Li Hua (Jasmine flower). Adding onto the element of diversity, the natives of Malaysia were also included where they played with their traditional musical instrument- Sape.

Highlighting the beauty of music through traditional musical instruments, other instruments like Gu Zheng, were also seen. As they perform in the streets of Melaka, onlookers were definitely happy to be able to witness such a harmonious event, with many of them waving and cheering on the performance.

Watching the video for ourselves, it’s such a refreshing sight to see the diversity of culture in Malaysia and how harmonious we can live, despite our differences!
