Pocket Rocketman Azizulhasni announces retirement, urges M’sians to channel their support towards Shah Firdaus

Just over the weekend, Malaysians were shocked to find out that our national hero, Azizulhasni has been disqualified from the keirin race. Despite the team’s best efforts to get him to compete in the repechages, the council’s decision was firm. Announcing his retirement prior to this, the pocket rocketman revealed that the Paris 2024 Olympics will be his last.

Speaking to broadcast channel Astro Arena, Azizul shared that he isn’t afraid that his legacy would die after his retirement as he has faith in Shah Firdaus, another fellow cyclist.

“I watched him during the match, I’m beyond impressed and happy for him”, said Azizul.

Discussing further about Shah’s performance during the finals, the man believes that Shah Firdaus would’ve won the bronze medal, if he did not get knocked over by the Japanese rider. Confident in Shah’s capabilities and dedication in this sport, Azizul mentioned that he finds comfort in knowing that Shah will go far.

On top of that, showcasing remarkable sportsmanship, Azizulhasni then urged Malaysians and the public to channel their support they have for him to Shah.

“The future is bright for Shah, give him your support”

“It’s time to stop talking about me now. It’s not about me anymore”, he said, probing netizens to show their encouragement towards the new generation and Shah.

When asked about his retirement plans, the man revealed that he hasn’t got any plans yet. Sacrificing over 2 decades of his life, dedicating it to this sport, Azizul thanked his family, especially his wife for taking care of their family.

“As of now, all I want to do is spend time with my family. After that, I’ll discuss with my family about my retirement plans”, he mentioned.

Thank you Azizulhasni for dedicating 20 years of your life towards this sport, opening up doors for the future generation to take part in the indoor cycling events. We Malaysians are incredibly thankful for your contributions. So proud of you and your achievements thus far!
