In 2014, the world bore witness to one of the most tragic and enduring mysteries to have occurred in the modern age. A Boeing 777 aircraft designated MH370, operated by Malaysian Airlines departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8th. 38 minutes later while coasting over the South China Sea, the aircraft would send its last message to Air Traffic Controllers before vanishing without a trace.
Netflix releases new trailer for 3-part MH370 documentary
In the wake of its disappearance, continued efforts have been mounted by both international governments as well as private companies, in a bid to locate and recover the plane’s wreckage after it was believed to have crashed. In fact, the search for MH370 has been declared as the most expensive in aviation history.
But to this day, the fate of MH370 remains unknown, with her 227 passengers and 12 members of crew on-board presumed dead. Consequently, the incident was declared the deadliest tragedy to involve a Boeing 777 aircraft as well as the deadliest tragedy involving an MAS aircraft, until it was surpassed by the MH17 tragedy in July of the same year.
To date, only bits of alleged debris have been recovered from the plane such as a flaperon in July 2015, a left outboard flap trailing edge in May 2016, a right outboard flap that was recovered in June 2016, among others reports the BBC.
As the enigma surrounding MH370 endures, American streaming platform Netflix has just announced that they will be releasing a three-part documentary surrounding the plane’s disappearance.
According to the description on YouTube, the documentary is set to be released on March 8, which coincides with when the plane first disappeared back in 2014. In the trailer, it could be seen that the documentary will largely be focused around interviews conducted with family members of the victims, as well as pundits and experts who have closely studied the tragedy.
But beyond established facts and testimonials from victim families, the show will also delve into the conspiracy theories that have been widely shared in the public consciousness, including one which claims that the plane was hijacked.
Buzz surrounding the trailer’s release indicates that interest into the case continues to persist among people all across the globe nearly a decade on, with many chiming in their thoughts on the disaster.
