As many will no doubt be familiar with the old adage, ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’. Simply put, real camaraderie is seen when your friends are just as willing to lend you a hand and stand by you during life’s most perilous moments, just as they are willing to celebrate your successes. And that has most certainly been proven to be true in a heartwarming video that was recently shared to social media platform TikTok by local user 5cammers, otherwise known as Farhan.
Group of boys surprise their friend with a brand-new laptop
In the 29-second long clip, he explains that both he and a group of his friends decided to surprise one of their closest buddies after having learned that he was about to take the monumental step of furthering his studies. Figuring that he would most likely need a laptop for his classes, the group of adolescent boys then hatched a plan in secret to pool as much money as they could spare between all of them in order to buy him one.
Meeting at a restaurant, one of the boys excused himself from the table, before returning with the laptop in tow, still clad in its packaging, before presenting it to their close friend in a moving show of friendship.
Understandably, the incredibly touching gesture moved his friend to tears, with one of the young men explaining that they had managed to accumulate a total of RM1,600 for his laptop.
Chipped in to buy the computer after learning about his circumstances
In a separate video uploaded by Farhan, he took to explaining his friend’s circumstances, who revealed in a voice note previously that he had enrolled in university with the fervent hope of being able to change his family’s destiny. At the time, his friend had hoped to buy a new phone to use for his studies, and had invited Farhan out to accompany him.
But just days before they were supposed to meet, his friend abruptly cancelled the appointment. As it turns out, he had lost his wallet and no longer had the money to afford the device.
Upon learning of his situation, Farhan and his other pals decided that they would chip in money together so that they could buy their friend a laptop instead. With the money in hand, they then went around to a number of computer shops to survey for the new computer, before purchasing one.
The video has since garnered a whopping 2 million views on TikTok, with many netizens commending on the bond that the adolescents shared together.
