M’sian shuttler Lee Zii Jia to take a break from competing
Unfortunately, his setbacks these two weeks have caused him to slide down a spot in the world rankings from 10th to 11th place and according to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, this is the first time his ranking has fallen below top ten since 2021. After his exceptional performance in the All England and Swiss Open where he advanced into the semi-final rounds, it was evident that he felt defeated after the setbacks he had faced two weeks.
The Malaysian shuttler who faced Laksya Sen was said to be feeling unwell especially during the second match where his performance standard was not on par. Subsequently, the defeat in the Indonesia Open has led Lee Zii Jia to a decision where he will be taking a break from competing indefinitely.
“I’ve been wanting to take a break and I think I will not be participating in any tournaments for the time being”, said the defeated shuttler.
When asked about how long he will be taking a break, the Malaysian shuttler was unable to give a time frame saying that he would start competing again once he has found the right motivation and encouragement to continue pursuing his passion.
Other than that, he also shared that the break he will be taking is beneficial for him as he would need time to recuperate and ignite his passion once again. It is predicted that Lee Zii Jia will not be competing in the upcoming tournaments in Taiwan, Canada, US, and Korea.
