She then came across a facial bar that provides the Pico laser treatment for a trial price of RM99. Initially, she impressed with the services provided and said that her first session left her feeling good about it, however, she noticed that there is an underlying marketing tactic that would make customers splurge on their treatment.

“When I visited for the first time, they performed a skin analysis and told me that they’re unable to perform the Pico laser treatment and suggested that I do a different facial treatment before securing another appointment for the Pico laser treatment”, she said.

After her extraction facial, she then began her Pico laser treatment and on the third and fourth session, she started noticing changes on her skin. Big black spots started appearing and she thought it was just a side effect that will eventually go away. Unfortunately, her skin condition only gotten worse and was forced to stop going for facial treatments.

She revealed that as her skin got worse, she tried to reason with the facial bar and ask for a refund along with compensation for the traumatic experience but has yet to receive a proper response from them. As her skin condition worsens, she was forced to see a dermatologist to help fix her skin and due to the severity, she was visiting the dermatologist every two weeks, with medical bills ranging from 200-400 per visit.

“It was insanely painful, and the slightest touch would cost my face to throb and start bleeding rapidly”, she mentioned.

With her skin condition being so fragile, she had no choice but to defer her semester for her studies upon doctor’s orders. The medications that she was required to take caused her to feel weak and lethargic, along with inconsistent menses.

However, the silver lining is that the medications and frequent visits to the dermatologist has helped her skin show improvements. While her forehead has shown significant signs of healing, it’s unfortunate that her cheeks will have ice pick scars that are permanent.
