Regardless of any neighbourhood we may find ourselves moving into, there is an unspoken rule between all residents that we should always try to be hospitable and considerate to those living around us. This is especially true in apartments and condominiums, where many are expected to share public facilities and spaces together, such as gyms, swimming pools, or car parks.
Netizen’s father’s car damaged by flying bag of rubbish from flat unit
Unfortunately, that was far from the case for one netizen’s father, who received a rude shock when he discovered that his car’s rear windshield had been completely smashed apart. As shared by TikTok user @piqahhhhs_, otherwise known as Nur Syafiqah, she recounted how her father’s car was found damaged in the open car park of a flat building.
The culprit? A heavy bag of rubbish that plummeted down after being flung from a high-level flat unit overhead. The force of the impact appeared substantial enough to break through the glass, leaving a stomach-churning mess in its wake.
Spent RM600 owing to the damages
Showing the extent of the damage and the filth that resulted from the bag of wet rubbish, a nauseating pool of yellow fluid can be seen pooling just behind the headrests of the rear seats, while other pieces of food waste landed in the footwell and on the back of the front seats.
“Because of people who decide to just throw their rubbish from above instead of taking the time to go down and dispose of their trash. Tadaaa, look at who has to pay the price.” she wrote in her video’s caption.
As a consequence, they had to wind up paying a total of around RM600 not just to replace the broken windshield, but to have the car properly scrubbed clean. Unfortunately, Syafiqah said that the stench remained pungent in the car despite their best efforts to get rid of it.
Her video has since gone viral, with many netizens urging her to make a request to her building management to install CCTV cameras to catch any future culprits.
“I feel that those staying in flats or condominiums need to have an Act regarding the disposal of rubbish. Install plenty of CCTVs then issue fines.”
“I think they should install CCTVs, and if there are residents who like to throw their rubbish everywhere like this, take immediate action.”
Some have even expressed concerns over purchasing flat units owing to the incident.
“I was just considering buying a flat/apartment. After watching this video, maybe not. Pity the car.”
“Sometimes people who buy expensive houses don’t buy it just for the house, but because of the higher sense of civic duty that the community shares.”
