Majority of adults would usually go on to build their own households once they start working. But this was not the case for 22-year-old Abdul Muqmin Mazni. Putting his own dreams aside, Abdul became a full-time caretaker for his elderly father.

Speaking to Wau Post, Abdul introduced himself as being the youngest of three siblings. “I willingly left my job to take care of my father, after my mother had passed away from breast cancer five years ago,” he explained. Despite given options to pursue tertiary education and job offers, Abdul remained steadfast towards caring for his father.

“A mother can care for 12 children, but it’s not guaranteed that they can care for one mother”

When asked on what drove him, Abdul reiterated his commitment to being a dutiful son. “I want to inspire the younger generation to always serve their parents, no matter what we give up,” he said. He strongly believes that whatever opportunities meant for him would inevitably come his way.

“A mother can care for 12 children, but it’s not guaranteed that those 12 children can care for one mother,” Abdul quotes. His unwavering dedication has already generated mass inspiration online. Many users commented on Abdul’s TikTok video, lending words of positivity and support.
