Losing your wallet as an adult could be a hassle as you’ll have to go through the lengthy and tedious procedure of calling your banks to cancel off and request for new cards. One would also need to head over to the police station and report about their lost wallet, so that they can safeguard themselves, if their identification card is being used for illegal activities.

Just recently, local newspaper Sin Chew Daily reported that a woman has allegedly pretended to be a student’s mother after seeing that there were posts about a man losing his wallet. The incident was first posted onto a confession page on Facebook, called UTAR confession page.

According to the post, it was said that this incident had happened on April 28, in Kampar, but had only garnered attention recently. The post mentioned that a man was having his breakfast at a coffee shop. Unfortunately, as he left the coffee shop, he accidentally left his wallet at the eatery and only found out that he has lost his wallet after returning to his dorm, where he was receiving messages of his card being used.

He revealed that the woman had used his card to go on a shopping spree, stopping by at restaurants and other stores to purchase goods, spending over RM400 in a go. He then decided to track the woman down by checking where the transactions occurred and asked for the employees to show him the CCTV footages.

“I’m not your son, why are you using my money?”

Thankfully, the employees were co-operative, and he managed to identify the woman, who appears to be middle aged. On the third day of losing his wallet, the man returned to the coffee shop and asked the hawkers if they’ve seen the woman. Following that, a hawker has revealed that he was the one who found his wallet and posted online asking for the owner of the wallet to come collect the wallet.

“The woman then went over to the shop and tried to claim the wallet, but the hawker was skeptical at first”, he said.

He added that the hawker had mentioned to her that the wallet belongs to a man and she quickly said that the man was her son. The hawker then proceeded to ask her to recite the numbers written in the man’s identification card, but she failed to do so. However, the woman was adamant that the wallet belongs to her “son” and the hawker surrendered the wallet to her.

He then emphasised that the hawker has done nothing wrong as he had already done his due diligence, as he only surrendered his wallet to her because he didn’t think that someone would go to this extent to claim something that does not belong to them.

“I’m not your son, you’ve got no rights to use my money and buy items for yourself. I want my money back”, he said.

Subsequently, he shared that he has made a police report about his missing wallet and is urging for the woman to surrender herself to the authorities before he takes any actions against her.
