Being able to secure a job and subsequently receiving your first pay can be seen as a milestone to some people. With that said, many people would use their salary to treat their family to a nice meal. Unfortunately for this Malaysian, it seems like he has overspent as his family had requested for him to treat them to a nice meal.
M’sian earning RM1,500 shares how he overspent as his family asked him to treat them to a meal
In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), a man decided to share his struggles online, expressing the fact that he just received his first pay but had overspent. He shared that his family had asked him to treat them to a meal, which he was more than happy to do so. His family had requested to head over to a fast-food chain restaurant, where he had to pay for all 10 of his siblings.
Revealing that he is the eldest amongst his siblings, he had no choice but to pay for his family while only earning a mere RM1,500.
“Just by footing the bill for my family, I’ve spent over 15% of my salary”, he said.
Other than that, he also revealed that on top of treating his family to a nice meal, he was also expected to provide an amount of allowance to his significant other. He then expressed his slight frustration, saying that it’s barely two weeks into the month and he is already forced to live frugally.
Speaking to Wau Post, the man shared that the purpose of him sharing his struggles is so that other people are aware of what’s going on around us.
“I’m sure plenty of people are going through that and I just want to shed light on this matter where people would receive their pay but overspend on their family”, he mentioned.
Since his tweet, plenty of netizens have commented on his situation and here’s what some of them said:
“You want to give allowance to your significant other when you’re only earning RM1,500? Focus on yourself first.”
“I’ve discussed this with a fellow friend, he said it’s fine to offer about 15% of his salary to his family as he would receive blessings in other forms. I think many of them would often forget that this would mean that they have little to nothing left to save up.”
“It’s an honor and privilege to be able to treat your family, but I think the family must also understand and be considerate about their financial situation.”
