As times change, living costs have skyrocketed especially during and after the Covid-19 crisis. On the bright side, this has pushed Malaysians to come up with creative ways to stay afloat, including this power couple.
M’sian couple runs a stall selling ‘Rahmah’ desserts at only RM1
From land surveyors to business owners, talk about a career change! The husband-and-wife team, Mohd Roslan Ibrahim and Teh Samrose Mahasan, both 31, first launched their dessert trade back in 2018.
“We initially crafted cheesecakes and durian crepes, selling via agents across Perak. But considering the escalating cost of living, we chose to introduce a ‘RM1 dessert’ stall,” Roslan told Bernama.
Situated in Bercham, Ipoh, Perak, their stall has been offering customers cakes and assorted desserts for a mere RM1. They are open for business daily except for Mondays, operating from 3pm until they sell out.
Hitting the sweet spot for 5 years and counting
“With just RM10 or RM20, our customers can indulge in a diverse selection of our handmade cakes, crepes, donuts, and desserts,” said Teh Samrose, who also holds a degree in event management. Customers can be seen queueing up as early as 2.30pm on an average day.
In spite of the low prices, Roslan and Teh Samrose maintain the utmost quality of ingredients that go into each sweet treat. In addition, they also provide afternoon tea menus, inclusive of noodles and beverages, all priced affordably for everyone to enjoy.
