One of the most critical life skills to learn as an adult is how to balance and manage your personal finances. The most essential way of doing this is by means of ensuring that you have a stable source of income, tracking your expenditures, ensuring that your financial commitments do not out outweigh your earnings and of course, making sure that you have savings to fall back on in times of emergency.
However for one Malaysian couple, this is where things begin to go awry.
Malaysian couple ridiculed for asking netizens’ help in paying their RM2,781.26 credit card debt
In a tweet dated back in February 28, a Malaysian woman took to Twitter to appeal for financial aid from social media users, and explained that she and her boyfriend both needed money to pay off their credit card debt.
Apparently, they were left without any other choice but to make use of their credit cards to pay for their daily expenses over a few months, after they lost their source of income when their business faced problems.
“Hi fellow Dark Side users. I am sincerely asking for financial help on behalf of my boyfriend and myself for our debts to the bank, as we are facing problems in our business so me and him both have been using our credit card for daily expenses for a few months. Anybody willing to help us really appreciated. DM me for details.” she wrote.
Following her tweet, she included a screenshot of the amount that she and her boyfriend had racked up, which totalled up to RM2,781.26 from two separate credit cards.
Her Tweet has since garnered plenty of attention online, with many netizens condemning her for asking having the gall to ask for handouts over social media instead of trying to find a job to pay off their debts.
A netizen sarcastically asked if anyone would be willing to pay off his credit card debts since he has debts too.
“I owe the bank credit card debts too. Can I sincerely ask from other people to pay, eh?”
“Get a job, sis, bro. You are physically healthy. And yet here you are, treating like begging as a job.”
“You should call the bank and get them to cut your cards, then you can pay them back by instalment.”
